We had a client [small mail server with approx 150 email addresses accross 5 domains] constantly being bombarded with a daily deluge of spam, viruses and phishing attacks. Top quality gatweay filtering software was installed on this mailserver, however it kept falling over or becoming sluggish due to the sheer volume of traffic, and processes that it need to perform. Decision time - a new mail server with more resources [and cost] or find another way. Since netcore cleanmail has been implemented the mail server has never faltered. [its load now reduced by over 80%] and all indications are that it will live out its natural lifespan.
